1.What are your response to the title when you first read it?Did your response change after you read the poem and study it further?
I had no ideal about what the title is at first. But after I finished reading the poem, I finally found out the real meaning of ART.
1.What is the family backgroung of the author?How does she look at it?Does she feel proud of it or embarrassed about it?
She’s an American Born Chinese. And she thought that her English was limited by her mom because of her mom’s poor English. And she also felt ashamed of it.
2.Any inspirations you get from reading the story?
In my opinion, simple English isn’t that bad as Amy Tan felt. The most important thing in a conversation is to understand what the other says, and what we want to express. If using simple English can make you express your real meaning, isn’t it great?
1. What do you see in the picture? Where is Icarus? What are the other figures in the picture? Why does the painter try to convey through the arrangement of the figures in the painting?
A farmer, an old man, a big ship, and a leg of Icarus. All the people in the picture heard the sound of the fall of Icarus, but they didn’t care about that. In my opinion, the painter tries to tell us that no matter how unhappy we are, the world won’t make any change for us. Just like the sun will keep running.
2. In your own words sum up what, according to the speaker (in lines 1-13), the Old Masters understood about human suffering. And who are the “Old Masters” that he refers to?
The artists who had drawn the pictures about the fall of Icarus.
(1)What is the family background of the author? How does she look at it? Does she feel proud of it or )embarrassed about it?
Her mother was a Chinese who lived in Shanghai but moved to the U.S. And the author was born after her mom arrived the U.S. Her mother only can speaks very simple English. Although she knows only a little about grammars, we can still understand what she wants to tell us. The auther may feel a little shame about her family background and also feel embarrassed about her mom’s English. If I were her, I will never feel embarrassed with that. Although she isn’t good at English, she still try her best to tell us what she’s thinking and what she wants to tell us.
(2)What is the form of this piece of the writing? Fiction, prose, poetry? Is the narrator the author?
a.In my opinion, this may be a fiction.(may be a prose or a memoir, i’m not sure about that.)

1.Werther says “ That the life of man is but a dream is a thought which has occurred to many people, and I myself am constantly haunted by it” at the beginning of the letter written on May 22. What is he trying to tell us, we people everywhere?

Werther may want to tell us that we people should not always make goals which are hard to reach.We should make some easy targets,and get them first,not alway daydreaming.And I think Werther was a man without great goals.He just wanted to enjoy the beautiful environment around him.
2.How does Werther think of children? Why does he think that the happiest people in the world are like chidren?
(1)Werther thinks that children are the happiest people in the world.
(2)In my opinion,the reason why he thinks that the happiest people in the world is that children are the purest people in the world,they don’t have any pressure and they don’t have to worry about anything.All they can do is just play and play and play.
3.What kind of person does Werther think he is? What are the characteristics of the young Werther you learn from the letter on May 22?
In my opinion,Werther thought that he was smarter than all the countrymen he protrayed and talked with.They were valued to Werther because of their ignorance,and also made Werther consider himself a wise man. He thought too much to realized by himself.

Son of Priam and Hecuba.Because of his selfishness and his foolish decision,a war was happened.Paris stole the queen of Sparta,Helen.And Helen’s husband,Menelaus,was very angry about that.So he send his army to Troy,and took his wife back.There were countless human died in the war and Troy came to an end because Paris’ stupid decision.—–That’s the reason why Dante put Paris in the hell.
Q2.Francesca shouldn’t get together with Paolo’s brother named Caina.Their love was not allowed to exist in the world.Finally,Dante was touched by the true love between Francesca and Paolo.That’s why Dante put them to the second circle of hell.
Q3.In my opinion,creators and vehicles should be more responsible and accountable for unacceptable attitudes and behavior in society.They spread their thoughts around the world by creating things.They may create fashion and hit.So they should have the responsibility to take charge it.
